The phone offers you a choice of 3 melodies and volume levels to alert you to incoming calls, or you can switch off the ringer if you want quiet. The handset volume can be adjusted in 2 steps. The Gigaset DESK 400 can be used both as a desk phone and as a wall phone and always ensures optimal usability. For wall operation, the phone is simply attached using two screws.

The dialing method - tone or pulse - is also adjustable, as is the flash time for the enquiry function (using a slide switch). Pressing the mute button prevents the other party from hearing what is being said.
